#Spread The Love – Be A Part of the Leukemia Cure (Oct. 22nd)

October 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

A friend of mine recently got diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. For those who are not aware of what it is, it’s a type of blood cancer. Medical measures are being taken through chemotherapy, medication, etc. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been enough, so now we prepare for the next step through means of a bone marrow transplant.

Many people are under the impression that bone marrow transplants are an invasive painful procedure but the resulting pain by the harvesting is mild and complications are rare. The bone marrow transfusion procedure is identical to the procedure used in blood transfusions and anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 could donate.

The doctors have said the chances of finding a match is significantly higher from someone of the same nationality and background. So I ask all my family and friends, lets do this for a good cause. What’s a little mild discomfort compared to saving a life and a family?

My friends who live in Quebec, please join the stem cell registry by signing up on:
https://www.hema-quebec.qc.ca/cellules-souches/donneur/inscription/etape1.en.html

Any further questions or doubts you may have may be answered through:
http://www.hema-quebec.qc.ca/cellules-souches/savoir-plus/information-sur-le-don-de-cellules-souches.en.html

If still any questions, you could call: 1 (888) 666- 4362

My friends who live in Ontario, please join the stem cell registry through:
https://www.blood.ca/CentreApps/Internet/UW_V502_MainEngine.nsf/page/E_ubmdrPKG-intro?opendocument&CloseMenu&p=OMSplashJoin

The option to join is at the bottom of the page. But full details are there so you are aware of the procedure.

Please be aware that you are in no way obliged to join or donate, even if you spread the word, you’re making a difference. By joining the stem cell registry, it does not mean that my friend will be the one to get your stem cells. But if you happen to be a match to anyone in need, it’s possible to save the life of the person you are donating to. It’s in us to give, so lets!

Again, I want to emphasize that it is a simple procedure with very little discomfort. The doctor and nurse will be able to give you full details about the process before you agree to anything.

I’ll add everyone I know into this group, and hopefully you all will do the same! Add your friends, family, everyone you know!
So let’s spread the word ladies and gentlemen!
LET’S SPREAD THE LOVE!
