The very first time I tried to drape my sari:
1. I couldn’t walk
2. I couldn’t pee (I pinned my sari to my underwear *mortified), and
3. The sari fell apart (when I sat down).
My mom has been pleating my sari for most of my life and she does a kick-ass pleat! But, as I got older, my tastes became pickier. I wanted this tucked in, and that shortened, and this tightened. Of course this would irritate my mom, and I would storm out in a hissy fit.
So, I learned to drape my own sari, with the help of my mom of course (after a lot of begging).
I know many of us girls who can’t keep rushing off to our mom/aunt/friend/drape specialists every single time we need a sari draped. So, I sincerely hope this “how-to-video” ignites your inner child, and teaches you how to drape a sari. Let me know what you think, as this is the first time I’ve ever directed a video, it definitely stirred a new passion in me! Tell me about your draping fiasco, was your first time as painful as mine??
